In the operatic field, Jànos Fürst spent nine years as Music Director of Marseilles Opera and has also been a regular Guest at the English National, Scottish Operas, and most recently at the Royal Stockholm Opera.
Mr Fürst has succeeded in balancing his work in the concert hall with a
passion for all forms of musical theatre. He conducted the Premier
production of Peter Maxwell Davies’s full length Ballet Salomein Copenhagen which was subsequently recorded for EMI.
Jànos Fürst has also dedicated himself to the development of young musicians.
In Dublin in 1980 he gave his first courses and has since developed a personal method and philosophy regarding the teaching of conducting.
His performance of Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony with the National Youth
Orchestra of Great Britain in the final concert of the London Symphony
Orchestra’s Bruckner Cycle was greeted with much acclaim.
In 1997 he was made the Professorof conducting at the Paris National Conservatory of Music.
A position he occupied for five years. Some of his students have been
awarded international prizes and are now working with professional
orchestras.
Since 2002, he has continued to share his passion for music and conducting through his masterclasses held in theprincipal European cities, in Australiaand also in South-East Asia.
Jànos Fürst is currently the artistic director of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra in Hungry.

include the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Helsinki Philharmonic, Royal
Liverpool Philharmonic, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Prague Radio Symphony
Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, RTL Luxembourg, Netherlands Radio
Symphony, the Symphony Orchestra of Finland, the Prague’ Philharmonic
Choir and the Gurzenig Orchestra of Colon, the Szeged Symphony
Orchestra, with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and for the final
of the Rostropovich competition with the Orchestra of Paris etc.
Masterclasses are also scheduled in London, in Canton China with the Youth Orchestra of Asia, in Paris with the Ile De France Orchestra etc.
Soon to be published, Jànos Fürst’ first book, Up Beat, Aspects of Conducting, contains many personal insights into the art of conducting.
